Also attending the Trapper Education Course this year was the Head of NHF&G Law Enforcement, Colonel Jeff Gray along with a group of Conservation Officers.

The pie contest judges are show here as they deliberate the merits of each entry. The first place award of $50 went to Mary Anne Jefferson for her chocolate entry, the second place award of $35 went to Bonnie Pennell for her apple pie, third place with a $20 award went to Mary Anne Jefferson again for her second entry a strawberry pie, and an honorable mention went to Sara May Jefferson for her entry. Soon after the contest all the pies became dessert for those in attendance.

Briana Donovan the recipient of the 2005 Frank J Sinclair Memorial Scholarship attended the NHTA Fall Business meeting to thank the membership for awarding her this grant which will assist her to afford college education. Briana is now a Freshman at the University of New Hampshire enrolled in the four year Wildlife Management curriculum.

Bill Bailey the Chairman of the NHTA Nominating Committee is shown here presenting the Octave Delude Award to the Springfield Fire Department. Octave Delude was a past member of NHTA who was held in the highest of regard by the NHTA membership. On some years when an appropriate candidate is deserving of such recognition we present this special award to an individual, business, or organization that is not part of NHTA but has shown considerable support for our organization. Receiving the award for the Springfield Fire Department was the NHTA Clerk, Bill Anderson who is also a volunteer fireman for Springfield.

Each year the NHTA singles out an individual member who during that year provided exemplary service to the organization. Shown here is Bill Bailey presenting the Trapper of the Year Award to Mel Liston of Strafford.

Robert McMaster the Strafford County Director who resides in Rochester became a life member this year and is shown here receiving his Life Membership Plaque from President Scott Borthwick.

President Scott Borthwick presents the NHF&G Owl Brook Educational Facility with a mounted Bobcat display contributed by the New Hampshire Trappers Association and received by Facilities Manager Sean Williamson.

NHTA Vice President Fred Shepard thanks Loyd White of Milford for once again selling the most gun raffle tickets and presents him with a gift of traps for his extraordinary effort on our behalf.

Ruebin Parker of Pittsburg sold the second most gun raffle tickets and received a gift of traps for his substantial effort.

The third most gun raffle tickets were sold by Gene Dabroski of Geroges Mills. Shown here VP Fred Shepard presents Gene with a gift of traps and thanks him for his very significant effort. At the end of this 2005 Fall Business Meeting of the NHTA, Fred will step down and Gene will accept the responsibility of being Vice President as we move forward into 2006. Fred has agreed to continue his superb effort on behalf of NHTA in the newly formed position of Liaison to NHF&G. Fred has long functioned in this capacity and we are very lucky to have him continue to do so. Volunteers who specialize in an area for which they shine will put a positive glow on our entire organization.

Shown in this photo are Scott Borthwick of Canaan, the President over the last two years, who has passed the gavel to the New President, Mel Liston of Strafford. We trust that Mel shall lead us forward and represent us well, as is the custom of all who have served as President since our founding in 1953. Scott has long shown an interest in politics or legislative activities and has agreed to continue his substantial effort on behalf of NHTA as our Legislative Director. Additionally Scott shall serve as the Chairman of our Advocacy Committee. A major portion of the NHTA effort going forward will be to become pro-active on the issues and concerns of our membership. We trust in Scott to guide us toward this objective.
