This 4 x 5" document with 96 pages was a three part booklet functioning as a trappers guide, supply catalog, and a compilation of game laws for all the states, provinces, and territories of North America. We owe much thanks to Harris Ilsley of Weare NH for lending us this snapshot of trapping history as it was in 1912.

Funsten Bros. was also a Furbuyer accepting large lot shipments

Could this 1912 Shurehold Trap be the conceptual fore-runner for the modern day Little Griz Getter coon specific trap?

Coon hunters and night trappers, what do you think of the headlamp utilized in 1912 with acetylene gas on your belt and a rubber hose going to the flame on your forehead?

A blown up portion of page 88 shows a summary of New Hampshire game regulations for the era. In 1912 the habitat was so destroyed for beaver that few remained and those received total protection. Habitat destruction through poor forestry practices and long harvest seasons on furbearers remaining in diminishing pockets of habitat would eventually lead to closed seasons for many species. In 1912 trapping was considered just another type of hunting with the common license for both at $1.
