New Hampshire Trappers Association

One of our NHTA members, Charlie Black of Derry NH, lent an old copy of the 1942 NHF&G Laws for inclusion in this section. Charlie's straight faced comment was that he didn't' think much had changed since then. Frankly there is considerable change evident from a review of this time capsule. Most of what we shall show on our website is that which is specific to trapping or the furbearers and typical of the way an old document such as this attests to  change. The book is 4-1/2 inches X 6 inches and 1/4 inch thick, there are 87 pages. The modern counterpart is 6-3/4 X 10 X 3/4 inch thick with more than 400 pages. The pages are self explanatory. Back then we had five Commissioners, there were bounties in place for bobcat and lynx, the seasons and furbearing harvest was quite different, Fur Buyers were licensed by County, it was illegal to possess an air rifle, and there was considerable environmental concern related to pollution of waterways from sawdust.
